Wisdom teeth pain
If you are currently suffering from wisdom teeth pain then you are definitely not alone. There are thousands of people every year that experience the same thing. Unfortunately the only way to fix wisdom teeth pain is to remove them as soon as possible. Usually wisdom teeth appear in the mid-teens to the early twenties but can show up earlier or later than that. Most dentists recommend that you have them removed as early as possible to prevent future wisdom teeth pain.
The biggest reason behind wisdom teeth pain is that with them wisdom teeth being the third molar they often grow in sideways or crowd the mouth. This can cause the teeth to become impacted causing severe wisdom teeth pain and will need to be removed as soon as possible. This is usually done by surgical procedure under anesthesia which will help to keep you numb and prevent wisdom teeth pain.
If you are experiencing wisdom teeth pain and have yet to have them removed you should contact your dentist as soon as possible. It usually requires a longer visit than normal extractions so you should clear your schedule for the day and have someone bring you to the dentist. It’s not really safe to be driving yourself to and from the dentist especially if you are going to be on strong pain medication. The wisdom teeth pain will only get worse until you have something done about it.
Once you have arrived to your appointment your dentist will discuss the entire procedure with you before starting. They will decide what type of anesthesia to use and once it has been administrated they may choose to take additional x-rays just to make sure that they haven’t gotten any worse since the last visit. However, once the procedure is over with and the anesthesia wears off there will be some pain. Fortunately most dentists will give you some type of pain medication to take home with you to get you through the next few days to treat your wisdom teeth pain.
The dentist will also give you a list of things to watch for regarding your wisdom teeth pain. You will have some mild to moderate pain after the extractions but you should not have much bleeding or any type of major drainage that appears to be infection. After a couple of hours if the bleeding from your wisdom teeth pain is still major or you are hurting worse that what the pain medicine can control you may need to contact your dentist right away. Also if you notice severe swelling even two days after the procedure it may be another sign that you need to contact your doctor. He will give you a complete list of things that you should watch for to ensure you are not getting dry socket or some type of infection which can be side effects of the procedure.
Wisdom teeth pain is never fun and should be dealt with immediately. By prolonging your visit to the dentist you are only giving your wisdom teeth more time to cause you even more dental problems. If you are unsure about what to have done about your wisdom teeth pain then speak to the dentist about it at your next appointment.
